Jimmie Carter
Born on October 1, 1924, in Georgia, Jimmy Carter grew up valuing education, becoming the first person on his father’s side to graduate from high school in 1941. His academic success led him to Maryland’s prestigious Naval Academy, where he pursued a career working on submarines. Carter’s dedication to public service eventually led him to the highest office in the land. In 1977, he made history as the only Georgian ever elected President of the United States, bringing his Southern roots and commitment to education and service to the Oval Office.
