Born Leslie Lynch King Jr. on July 14, 1913, in Omaha, Nebraska, Gerald Ford’s early life was marked by significant change. After his parents divorced, he moved with his mother to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Ford excelled in both academics and athletics, becoming captain of his high school football team and later earning the title of MVP while playing for the University of Michigan. His leadership qualities extended beyond the football field. In 1948, he ran for Congress and won, eventually rising to the position of House minority leader. Ford’s political journey reached its peak in 1974 when he was sworn in as President of the United States, following the resignation of Richard Nixon.
