The iconic Statue of Liberty was presented to the United States as a gift from France. It was created by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and its metal framework was constructed by Gustave Eiffel. In 1878, the head of the statue was showcased at the Paris World Fair before it was officially unveiled in 1886.
