Manhattan Bridge Under Construction (1909)

On December 31, 1909, the Manhattan Bridge was opened to traffic, having been erected between two towers across the East River in New York City. From the roof of the Robert Gair Building, this suspension bridge was visible on February 11, 1909, almost a year before its official opening, when the first temporary wire was strung in June 1908.
