John Adams Was The First President To Live In It
Although George Washington played a key role in commissioning and designing the White House, he never had the chance to live there. Instead, it was the second U.S. President, John Adams, who had the honor of residing in the iconic residence. Washington’s presidency ended in 1797, a few years before the completion of the White House in 1800. Tragically, he passed away in 1799, which means he never visited the final building. It is worth noting that Washington is the only U.S. President who did not have the opportunity to live in the White House.
