Tom Hanks Is Responsible For Caffeinating The Press
The press in the White House, excluding the President, definitely needs a caffeine boost. Back in 2004, when Tom Hanks went on his first tour of the White House, he was surprised to find out that the press room lacked a coffee machine. Being the generous person that he is, Tom Hanks went ahead and bought them one. As time passed, he noticed that the coffee machine was getting old and worn out, so in 2010, he gifted them a new one. On the last occasion, in 2017, Tom Hanks sent the White House press corps an extravagant present- a $1,700 espresso machine. He included a note with the gesture that said, “Keep up the good fight for truth, justice, and the American way. Especially for the truth part.”
