Charles Stanley, known to many for his spiritual leadership and teachings, held the esteemed position of senior pastor at the First Baptist Church of Atlanta beginning in 1971. Just a year into his tenure, he commenced a local television program, which was the prelude to the more widely recognized “In Touch” on the Christian Broadcasting Network by 1978. In addition to these accomplishments, Stanley’s influence extended to an organizational level, serving as the president of the Southern Baptist Convention between 1984 and 1986. After nearly half a century of service, Stanley transitioned to an emeritus role in 2020. Sadly, just a few years later, the world bid farewell to this spiritual beacon as he passed away in 2023 at the age of 90.
